Our Purpose
The PTA Purpose & Objectives
- To promote the welfare of our children and youth in school, home, and throughout the community;
- To raise the standards of home life;
- To advocate for laws that further the education, physical, and mental health, welfare, and safety of our children;
- To support the collaboration and engagement of families and educators in the education of our children;
- To engage the public in united efforts to secure the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and social well-being of all children;
- To advocate for fiscal responsibility regarding public tax dollars in public education funding.
Advocacy can be broken down into basic parts: the Advocate, the Issue, the Act, and the Decision-maker. Advocacy is simply communicating about an issue for which PTA has adopted a position.
- Anyone who speaks for another is an advocate
- PTA members are advocates for children and their parents.
- PTA members advocate on a wide variety of child-related issues: education, health, nutrition, safety, juvenile, protection, welfare reform, parent and family life, and drug abuse prevention, to name a few.

Bobcat Buddy Initiative
What is a Bobcat Buddy?
Calling all moms, dads, aunts, uncles, grandparents and concerned family members! A Bobcat Buddy is a volunteer who helps out in their student's homeroom class to support the teacher. Bobcat Buddies will help with classroom events and facilitate communication between the teacher and the other parents in the class.
What does a Bobcat Buddy do throughout the year?
- Planning and recruiting volunteers for classroom parties and projects
- Coordinate holiday teacher gift from the class
- Plan and organize class end of the year classroom party
- Assist PTA during Teacher Appreciation Week activities
- Assist classroom teacher as requested
Requirements:
- Complete Brumby Elementary School’s background check
